Trynna Brown, Chair – Trynna Y. Brown is the current Women’s Chorus Alto I Section Leader and member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. Ms. Brown has been a part of Magic City Choral society since the Women’s chorus was formed in 2008 and was President of the Women’s chorus for three years until the new term of 2012-2013. She is also a member of the Board Marketing Committee. She was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee but has called Birmingham home since 2002. She is attending Florida Institute of Technology and pursing a degree in Psychology. Ms. Brown has extensive experience in operations management with FedEx Express for over 14 years. During her management career, she has been recognized with leadership and performance awards. She is an Aspire to Management class facilitator who is essentially a coach for employees who want to become managers and leaders within the operations. She has been the Volunteer coordinator for United Way, March of Dimes, and Aircraft Plane Pull for Special Olympics projects which generate employee awareness, involvement and donations to charitable causes. Dr. Joseph Paul Dease, Founding Artistic Director – Dr. Joseph Paul Dease is a native of Dothan, AL. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Choral/Vocal Music from the University of Montevallo, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting with advanced studies in Vocal Pedagogy from the East Carolina University, and a Ph.D. in Choral Conducting/Choral Music Education from the Florida State University College of Music. Currently he is the Founding Artistic Director and Conductor of the Magic City Choral Society, Director of Arts and Music at The Southside Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL, and served on the faculties of the Florida State University College of Music, The University of Alabama School of Music and the Red Mountain Theatre Summer Youth Workshop. Robert Noah – Originally from Glencoe, Al, and has lived and worked in Birmingham for the last 30 years. Currently is employed with Tri-State Institute as Director of Administration and holds a BS in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing, plus many years of experience in human resources, fundraising and merchandising areas. Has also served as volunteer, as well as board member for several local groups such as BAO, MKA, AHA, and the Miss Alabama Scholarship Program. Melissa Musgrove- Melissa Musgrove is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, and works at Regions Financial Corp. as an Advertising Project Manager in Corporate Marketing. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Samford University in Journalism/Mass Communication and French, and a Master of Science from Northwestern University in Integrated Marketing Communications. In addition to serving on the MCCS Corporate Board of Directors, she is an active member of the marketing committee. Karen Musgrove – Karen Musgrove is one the three founding members of the Magic City Choral Society, and she currently serves as Executive Director for Birmingham AIDS Outreach. Birmingham AIDS Outreach is the first non- profit agency in Alabama with the mission to serve HIV positive individuals. Ms. Musgrove is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked for various non-profits in the Birmingham community and honors include: American Red Cross Mental Health Volunteer, World Trade Center, 2001; Top 40 under 40, Birmingham Business Journal, 2001; Disaster Response Training, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); Birmingham AIDS Outreach, Board Member. Ms. Musgrove currently serves on the following: ASONA (AIDS Service Organization Network of Alabama), Crestwood North, Rites of Spring (Treasurer), Jefferson County Ryan White Consortium (Chair), and the Magic City Choral Society (past Chair). Brett Pohlman- Brett is a native of Panama City Beach, FL and has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Auburn University. Brett moved to Birmingham from Boston, MA in late 2009 and currently works at Regions Financial Corporation as a Social Media Care Representative. In addition to serving on the MCCS Board of Directors, Brett is an active singing member of MCCS and member of the Marketing Committee. He is active in many social media, marketing and public relations organizations in the Birmingham area including serving as the Vice President of Digital Communication of the Birmingham Advertising Federation and as a member of the Alabama Social Media Association. Katherine R. Rochester- Katie Mason works at Hoffman Media as an Account Manager. Hoffman Media is one of the largest woman owned publishing companies in the United States, and produces the regional and national publications; Cooking with Paula Deen, Southern Lady, Taste of the South, Victoria, TeaTime, and Louisiana Cookin. Katie is the President of the Jr. Board of JDRF, involved with the Literacy Council and Small Stages, and a member of Highlands United Methodist Church. She is married to Dr. Robert Mason, and currently, they have two cats.
Hannelore Melville is a Birmingham native who received her BA from Loyola University-New Orleans in Literature and Fine Arts. She joined the Magic City Choral Society in 2011 and currently serves as President of the Women’s Chorus. Before her three children were born, she was in the restaurant industry as a pastry chef, working locally and in San Francisco. Her love of cooking persists, and she continues to cater small events as Wild Ginger Catering. In addition, Hannelore is an Lease Coordinator for Harbert Realty Services. Strongly committed to community service, Hannelore is a trained volunteer Disaster Shelter Manager for the Red Cross-Birmingham Chapter, Troop Committee Member for Boy Scout Troop 97, and Assistant Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 397. In her spare time, she follows her daughter’s volleyball team, is learning blacksmithing, and dates an amazingly patient man.
Joseph McGough, Treasurer – Joe McGough is a native of Birmingham, AL. He earned a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Montevallo. Joe has been in the banking/securities industry since 1992. Joe has been a part of the Magic City Choral Society since it’s’ inception in 2007 as a member of the Men’s Chorus and also serving on the Board of Directors. Joe also serves on the Board of Directors for Birmingham AIDS Outreach (BAO). He has served on the BAO Board since 2004 and is currently the treasurer. Richard Tucker , Richard has been a singing member of the Magic City Choral Society since 2010. Richard has a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Languages from Florida State University, a Masters in Public Administration from the University of West Florida and a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law. Richard is currently employed with The Nature Conservancy where he is Director of Operations for Alabama. He has previously worked for the Trust for Public Land in Atlanta as in-house Counsel and Associate State Director and spent 18 years in Seattle, Washington working for the State of Washington and King County in a variety of management positions overseeing salmon recovery planning, farm and forestland conservation, land acquisition for parks and green space and water quality protection. Richard has also been an instructor at Western Washington University, Human Services Program where he taught courses in Conflict Resolution, Law and Ethics, Human Rights and Death and Dying. He also taught Environmental Law and Environmental Impact Assessment at Far Eastern State University in Vladivostok, Russia. His volunteer activities include the Chicken Soup Brigade (Board member and volunteer) in Seattle, Volunteers Attorneys for People with AIDS (King County Bar Association), WWU Human Service Scholarship Endowment Committee, and the Greening Youth Foundation (Chair of Board 2008-2010). Originally from New Jersey, Richard currently lives in Pell City.
